The beach runner

A new Year is upon us and so it begins again! I had some time in Byron Bay where I tied up with a friend of mine to do this personal project. This was shot at 120 frames per seconds on a 4K camera.

Mr Yagi for Under Armour

The prospect to go and shoot in Hong Kong for any photographer is quite exciting, but when a pandemic is approaching and during Chinese New Year, the outlook is scary to say the least. This is how I made my way to Japan. Three days before, the shoot was cancelled and within one week we were off to Japan to shoot for Under Armour.

The runner, Mr Yagi, is being filmed for a video piece for the Olympic. Kind of one day in the life of and they wanted some specific shots for their campaign of Under Armour shoes labelled TYO.

7 days of planes, buses, recci, shoots, good food and a bit lack of sleep. The worse was thinking there would be no problem in Japan but landing at the airport had to face a barrage of people coming from Hong Kong then from Beijing and I thought if I am going to be infected it's here!!! But all good!... cough cough... :)

A "new" Year but not as you know it!

Well, It's been a while since I have posted and you probably know the reason why! The year started very shitty to say the least. First we had the NSW fires ravaging the landscape in the east of Australia than it was the Coronavirus, Followed by maybe the worst world economy status ever and to make this worst America is burning from Anger. On the photography front, we started fairly well with a couple of big jobs, one in Hong Kong but then got cancelled and re-directed to Japan and then a job for Toyota, travelling to Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland. Then it was official, The Coronavirus was in Australia and they were shutting the borders. Then Everything stopped. Everything at Fridays Studio got cancelled and all photography job was either put on hold or cancelled as per quote "we are unaware what the landscape going to be post Covid-19, so what we have now in mind might not work what we need in the future".A truthfull statement as things have changed and many companies are asking themselves lots of questions.

Maybe it is time for companies to start looking at their branding, make statements, create imagery that will strengthen their brand. Be clever of what they do. Not so much like L'oreal but maybe more like Nike!

During this time we have invited companies to contact us if they need anything done to help their plee. We have remained active shooting personal projects. We have learn new programs that enable us to shoot and our clients to see the images remotely.. We have remain busy! Because in all chaos, there is always opportunity! Opportunity to grow, to be a better person, to be a better parent, a better husband, healthier and more ethical. And hopefully in the process some of America will be less racist.

In the next few weeks, we will send you stuff that we have been doing. Hopefully that inspires you!!

The photo above was taken in Japan while I was walking in the street.

Re-Res of Tahiti

Sometime ago when I was in Tahiti , I decided to take photos of the Re-Res. Re-res are the word to described the first male born that has become effeminate due to their duty of helping their mother for everything she does. For decades they have been accepted in the Tahitian society and it's quite fascibnating how much they are embraced by girls who always wants them on their sports team at school.

Shot on 6x6 Film.
